  1. Aromatherapy has been around for nearly 6,000 years, but did not become popular in the United States until the early 1980s. There are many different types of oils you can use for aromatherapy. The oils ard usually extracted from plants. Aromatherapy can be inhaled, massaged onto the skin, or in rare cases taken orally. Essential oils are concentrated extracts taken from roots, leaves, seeds, or blossoms of certain plants. The oils used for aromatherapy have different purposes for healing. Some are used for physical healing, such as funagl infections or swelling. Others are used for mental healing such as anxiety. Aromatherapy is also good for hair loss, aggitation, constepation, insomnia, headaches, itching, and psoriasis. If you are pregnant then you should stay away from certain oils, as well as if you have asthma. I think aromatherapy is very interesting and sounds very relaxing.

  2. Aromatherapy consist of oils from plants for healing. They can also be taken as massage oils to the skin or taken by mouth, which is rarely ever done. Which goes into essential oils that are made from plants, roots, and seeds. Which to me, possibly is just another form or branch off of Aromatherapy. Essential oils have been used for therapeutic purposes for nearly 6,000 years. The ancient Chinese, Indians, Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans used them in cosmetics, perfumes, and drugs. Essential oils were also commonly used for spiritual, therapeutic, hygienic, and ritualistic purposes. Which today we as Americans use foreign therapy and medication to what we believe in or have heard about that works. If such as been around for ages why isn't Aromatherapy and other ancient healing known more commonly than they are?

  3. Aromatherapy uses essential oils from plants for healing. Essential oils are concentrated extracts taken from the roots, leaves, seeds, or blossoms of plants. The oils are usually massaged into the skin to cure infections, stress, and other health problemes. Aromatherapy started with the ancient Chinese, Indians, Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans who used them for perfumes, drugs, and other treatments. Researchers believe that this works because of our sense of smell and that is what calms us down. Also they believe that the oils work in with the blood for hormones.

Cierra- I believe the reason why they are not that common yet is because researchers are still trying to find more information about it. To see if it truly works or if it is just a glitz.

  4. Aromatherapy uses essential oils from plants for healing. Essential oils are taken from the roots, leaves, seeds, or blossoms of plants. They each have their own mix of active ingredients, and this mix determines what they are used for. Some oils are used to promote physical healing and others are used for their emotional value. They could enhance relaxation or make a room smell good. Essential oils were also commonly used for spiritual, therapeutic, hygienic, and ritualistic purposes. They aren’t positive how aromatherapy works. Some experts believe the sense of smell may has a role in it.

Cierra: I think that aromatherapy is common. I have heard people talking about how it helps. I have also seen numerous aromatherapy treatments that you can purchase.

Grace: I do think the fact that researchers not knowing exactly how it works have something to do with it not being as popular and known as it could be. I do think researchers still want to find out more about it before it is advertized all over the place as a solution to problems.

  5. Aromatherapy has been around for nearly 6,000 years. The purpose of aromatherapy is using essential oils either rubbed into the skin or inhaled. When the essential oils are inhaled the sense receptors in your nose communicate with your brain. The essential oil lavender has been in many different stress relieving products. Aromatherapy is not only using in spas it is also used in different hospital settings too. In the hospital many people believe that these essential oils will help in relieving pain, improving the mood, and then helping someone relax.

Cierra- With the way that technology has advanced in the past few decades many forget about the other alternative sources of healing. Many people are becoming more "green" which may bring these alternative sources back again. .

Grace- I think it is interesting how the researches believe it works in the blood. I would think aromatherapy is more of a mind thing that never really changes any hormones.

  6. Aromatherapy has been used for almost six thousand years, but it was more recently 'discovered' by a French chemist by the name of René-Maurice Gattefossé. Gattefossé identified the healing benefits of Aromatherapy oils and established the science of Aromatherapy in 1928. Although Aromatherapy's history has spanned many centuries, its future is not clear because of the lack of research. Because of the lack of research, scientists do not have a basic understanding of how Aromatherapy works.

Grace- I think you are right when you said that Aromatherapy is not widely used due to the lack of evidence by researchers.

Cierra- If Aromatherapy had to be 'rediscovered' by a scientist in the early 1900's, it would lead me to believe that Aromatherapy was not widely used centuries ago.

  7. Aromatherapy are oils used from plants used for healing. Aromatherapy is used by massaging into skin rarly taken orally and, typically inhaled. Some oils are used for physical healing and some are used for emotional healing. Essential oils have been used for over six thousand years but was most resently discovered by a French chemist named René-Maurice Gattefossé. Researchers are not completely clear how Aromatherapy works but, most experts believe that human senses may play a role. It is said by experts that the senses communicate with the brain and result in physical, emotioinal and, metal health. Aromatherapy overall is used to relieve pain, improve mood and, help with relaxation. Pregnant people should avoid these essential oils. People with asthma should also avoid these essential oils. Aromatherapy has little evidence to be affective therfore there is much room for research for the future.

  12. Aromatherapy has been apart of the Chinese, Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Indians as well since the year 6,000. Aromatherapy can be used for to heal the body. The contents of aromatherapy is the roots, leaves, seeds, and blossom of plants. Essential oils were used for a lot of reasons, such as to treat burns, skin infections, gangrene, as well wounds in soldiers. Honestly I am grateful for essential oils, because they do help the human body to relax, specially with a sore body. "They say essential oils never became official in the United States until the 1980's. Today many different types of products such as lotion, candles, and beauty supplies are sold in stores all around the United States as aromatherapy, which is completely different from essentials. On the other hand during aromatherapy, which is usually done by a nurse, physical therapist, massage therapist. I have never had a massage, but honestly I do feel that getting aromatherapy will be very soothing.

Brandon: I think its interesting that alopecia can be treated by aromatherapy.

Cierra: I agree I'm pretty sure researchers are still trying to figure out if the essentials work

  13. Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils extracted from plants for the purpose of healing. Essential oils are concentrated extracts from such things as roots, leaves, seeds, and blossoms of plants. Some oils are used for physical healing, while others may be used to relax or change a mood. Essential oils have been used for approximately 6,000 years. Even at that, aromatherapy didn't become popular in the U.S.A. until the 1980's. Aromatherapy is a good thing to try unless you have asthma or are pregnant.

I would like to know what the first ancient culture to use aromatherapy is. If you find this please post either the answer or a link. Thank you.

Merica: Some aromatherapy smells are relaxing while with others you just want it not to smell. My mom has been doing aromatherapy all my life so i did not know that it wasn't very common.

Brandon: I like that you put the fact that alopecia can be treated by aromatherapy. I'm probably going to start balding when I get older and that will be something to keep in mind.

  14. In Aromatherapy, healing is done by using essential oils from plants. This became popular in the United states in the 1980s. When you breathe in these different smells they stimulate parts of your brain. An example is that in depressed people the scents are supposed to stimulate positive emotions. Other conditions it helps is pain, insomnia, and anxiety.

Jordan: I also think it sounds very relaxing, especially the massage.

Cierra: I also don't understand how Aromatherapy is not well known when it has been around for some time.

  17. Alex- I agree that scientists don't really have a good understanding of aromatherapy, I believe they should do more research to figure out the basic meaning and how it works, especially with the whole world into this "going green" stage.

  18. Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants for healing. I've heard about Aromatherapy before reading this article, but never knew it could help Alopecia areata, that's wild! I will definitely have my dad try this treatment. Although I don't see how oils could help hair loss. But moving along, Aromatherapy has been around for nearly 6000 years. Scientist aren't exactly sure how it works, but they believe The "smell" receptors in your nose communicate with parts of your brain that serve as storehouses for emotions and memories.

  21. Aromatherapy is when oil from plants are used to heal people. It is massaged into the skin and can only be done by a professional. Also, some are taken by mouth. The oils come from roots, leaves, seeds, and blosoms of plants. Aromatherapy can relieve pain, improve mood, and/or help a person relax. Women who are pregnant, people was asthma, and people going threw chemotherapy should avoid aromatherapy.

Grace - How do the oils get all the way into the blood? What exactly does it do to the hormones?

Kelsey Britt - I think aromatherapy shoud be advertised more, here. I think it would be better than all of these medications we use. People could atleast try it!

  22. Aromatherapy was created nearly 6,000 years ago by cultures including the Chinese who also created acupuncture. It is an alternative treatment for many things using different types of essential oils. These oils can come from roots, leaves, seeds, and even the blossoms of plants. Aromatherapy has many purposes including physical and emotional healing. Scientist have not been able to proove that aromatherapy actually works but they think that the smell connects with your brain somehow. These oils can be inhaled, put into your bath, or even massaged into you. These practices have been around so long that there future is still bright.

Can certain oils effect people differently if they prefere different scents?

Do oils effect you differently at different ages?

  23. People have been using aromatherapy, to be relaxed, for many years. I did not know that essential oils can be messaged into the skin. I thought you just have to inhale it. It is amazing how these oils can help promote physical healing; like swelling and burns. It's kind of sad how we don't know how aromatherapy works but hopefully we figure that out soon. Aromatherapy is not needed for everybody. Pregnant women, people who have asthma, and people who our allergic to some of these flowers should not use aromatherapy for treatment.

alison: I think certain oils effect people differently because not everybody will like the same scent as the person sitting right next to you.

If the oils are taken by mouth, it's necessary to have certain instruction from a professional. It is a alternative treatment for infections, stress and other health issues. Some oils are used for relaxation, swelling, fungal infections, or to make a room smell better. Essential oils have been used for about 6,000 years for therapy.

Jordan- I agree that aromatherapy seems relaxing and interesting. I think sometimes the smell of lavender or just a fresh clean place is relaxing, but I didn't know that they used essential oils for so many different purposes.

Cierra- I think if the researchers found evidence that support that type of therapy, it would be used more. In the article it said that they are not clear on how the aromatherapy works.

  25. Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils taken from plants for healing. Ancient civilizations such as the Chinese, Romans, Egyptians, greeks,, and Indians were some of the first to use aromatherapy. It has been around for nearly 6,00 years. The oils can be inhaled, massaged into the skin, or taken orally, but it is uncommon to take oils by mouth. Without a trained professional, Taking some esential oils orally cna cause death. Although scientific evidence is lacking, aromatherapy is gaining popularity. It can be used for stress, anxiety, alopecia areata, constipation, and insomnia. I was surprised that it can used to help with alopecia. Pregnant woman, people with severe asthma, people with a history of allergies, hypertension, and history of seizures should avoid using aromatherapy/ essential oils.

Cordell: i looked up information on who was the first civilization to use essential oils, and the Egyptians were the first.

Nicole: I also thought that aromatherpay was basically mind- based. I didn't think that it could change your hormones and actually get into your bloodstream.

  26. Armomatherapy is an essential oil that comes from plants to help a "healing process." Normally, they are massaged and can sink into your skin, but rarely taken in the mouth. they can be used to relax you, improve your mood, or even reduce pain. These oils could also help your immune and digestive system. it has been used for over 6,000 years! That is a really long time, but they used to be used for spiritual, therapeutic, and hygenic purposes. I thought it was odd that in the blog it said that pregnant women find it relaxing and have less fear, but yet it said it should be avoided if you are having a baby?

Aubrey- I agree! I think that this should be more advised by people instead of taking anxiety pills or any other medication. This could reduce less stress just like any other pill, and if it doesn't work for the patient they can always prescribe them with medication. I think that they should at least give it shot though!

Jordan - i also think it is interersting that it can help with your hormones.. i think that some teenagers need to try this sometime... haha!

  27. Aromatherapy is rubbing or massaging oils found in plant roots, stems, leaves, or blossoms on your skin. It can also be used by inhaling the vapors, or rarely, consuming it by mouth. Aromatherapy has been around for nearly 6000 years, and has been used by the Chinese, Indians, Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. It can produce many different kinds of effects, such as reduced pain and to treat swelling or fungal infections. It can also be calming, and relieve constipation, anxiety, itching, and insomnia.

Cierra-I think why it was not known about untill recently was because it simply faded away from popularity for a time.

I wonder if aromatherapy would help restore hair when somebody is going through chemotherapy.

  28. When i first heard of aromatherapy I just thought it was just through smell, but it can also be massaged on to the skin where it will be absorbed. Aromatherapy is a process to heal the body by using essential oils from roots, leaves, seeds, or blossoms of plants. This therapy has been known to help with swelling, fungal infections, pains, nauesa, and many more symptoms. ALthough this therapy as been around 6,000 thousand years, scientist do not have much research on this topic which suprises me! If it seems like such a positive thing why hasnt there been further more expirements and research?

Brandon- I did a little research and although it did not fully answer your question it did help clarify some things. As found on the website it said massaging the head with essential oils causes better circulation resulting with less stress; therefore, I believe it helps with more syptom wises.

cierra- I dont necessairlty believe that. There is a lot of stuff that goes on in the world and its not always publicized! So there could be a possibility that it could help with less hair loss

Brianna C.- I thought the same thing! I thought aromatherapy was only used for smell. I didn't know it was also used for massages and other types of treatment also.

Paige: I also see your concern with aromatherapy and pregnancy. Is it safe to use that type of treatment even if you are pregnant?

  30. Aromatherapy has been around for nearly 6,000 years and the purpose is using essential oils that are either rubbed into the skin or inhaled.
It is a process to heal the body by using essential oils from roots, leaves, seeds, or blossoms of plants. They are gaining new attention as an alternative treatment for infections, stress, and other health problems. Essential oils should never be taken by mouth without specific instruction from a trained and qualified specialist. I think that it would be very fun to try this, expecially the massage.

Aubrey: I agree with you about that fact that these essential oils should be used more than medicines. Many medicines have side effects that make other problems worse while only fixing one problem. If we used more essential oils we could cut down those side effects.

Nicole: I also think most of the healing process is part of the patients believing the essential oils will work. Therefore it works because they believed it would. Kind of like a self fulfilling prophecy.

  36. Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants for healing. Essential oils are concentrated extracts taken from he roots, leaves, seeds, or blossoms of plants. The history behind aromatherapy is that the essential oils have been used for therapeutic purposes for nearly 6,000 years. Aromatherapy did not become popular in the United States until the 1980s. During an aromatherapy session, the practitioner will ask about your medical history and symptoms, as well any scents you may like. You may be directed to breathe in essential oils directly from a piece of cloth or indirectly through steam inhalations, vaporizers, or sprays. Aromatherapy is used for a lot of things and it seems to relieve pain, improve moods, and promote a sense of relaxation.

Paige: If it says avoid using while pregnant and woman are still using it...i wonder what type of effects it has on the infants?!

Yasmin: Since this has been around for 6,000 years, why is it not as popular as you would think it would be? It obviously seems harmless...so people should start using this instead of taking pills to help relieve pain because this seems to do the same thing.

  37. Aromatherapy has been around for about 6,000 years, mostly used by Europeans. The technique didn't emerge in the United States until the 1980's in the form of candles and lotions. Aromatherapy, exactly, "is the use of essential oils from plants for healing." These oils can
be massaged into the skin or taken by mouth, only
by specific prescriptions. During aromatherapy, a practitioner will ask questions about the patient's symptoms, and assess them as needed. When aromas are smelled, it stimulates the amygdala and hippocampus which house receptors for physical, mental, and emotional health. In general, aromatherapy suppresses pain, helps moods, and relaxes the patient. It can also help insomnia, alopecia, and anxiety. People who should avoid using aromatherapy are pregnant women and people with a history of high blood pressure. I never thought aromatherapy could
be used as an alternative medicine. I always thought of a spa when I thought of aromatherapy. Personally, I have a lot of stress and anxiety, and I would definitely look into this treatment because it simply sounds relaxing.

One part of the article said that pregnant women benefitted from aromatherapy: "...pregnant women felt less anxiety and fear, had a stronger sense of well-being, and had less need for pain medications during delivery. Many women also report that peppermint oil relieves nausea and vomiting during labor." Then, later in the article it said that pregnant women should avoid aromatherapy. Why?

Cierra and Grace: To add to Grace's statement, aromatherapy could be viewed as an alternative medicine. In a previous article we had about alternative medicine, it stated that it's slowing emerging into our American medicine. I also believe that because it is prevalent in other parts of the world, it isn't as popular in America(yet) because it isn't the "normal" form of medicine we are used to.

Brandon: Since there is much needed research about aromatherapy, I don't think there is a definite answer if aromatherapy cures alopecia or merely suppresses the symptoms. From what I understand, the treatments may help lower the stress levels associated with alopecia, and also the oils may help hair grow back; however, it probably doesn't help it from falling out.

Cordell: From this article, the Chinese were the first to use the principles of aromatherapy, then Egyptians.

Brittany: I also wondered about that. I found that certain types benfit them but they should always take precaution.

  41. aromatherapy has been around for thousands of years but has not always been popular in the U.S. Many of the essential oils and scents are made naturally and are extracted from plants. I think its cool that These smells can have an affect on the human nervous system. It can improve lives in many ways. A lot of medical personel are integrating this into their practice and it is shown to help. I wonder if some smells and aromas can have a negative effect.

Paige- I agree that it is wierd but it may be because they should avoid certain smells not aromatherapy. I wonder if any article would agree or differ from this

Cierra- i bet that many people from our time wrote it off as nonsense the way they do many eastern medicines that can actually be helpful

  43. My life is beautiful thanks to you, Mein Helfer. Lord Jesus in my life as a candle light in the darkness. You showed me the meaning of faith with your words. I know that even when I cried all day thinking about how to recover, you were not sleeping, you were dear to me. I contacted the herbal center Dr Itua, who lived in West Africa. A friend of mine here in Hamburg is also from Africa. She told me about African herbs but I was nervous. I am very afraid when it comes to Africa because I heard many terrible things about them because of my Christianity. god for direction, take a bold step and get in touch with him in the email and then move to WhatsApp, he asked me if I can come for treatment or I want a delivery, I told him I wanted to know him I buy ticket in 2 ways to Africa To meet Dr. Itua, I went there and I was speechless from the people I saw there. Patent, sick people. Itua is a god sent to the world, I told my pastor about what I am doing, Pastor Bill Scheer. We have a real battle beautifully with Spirit and Flesh. Adoration that same night. He prayed for me and asked me to lead. I spent 2 weeks and 2 days in Africa at Dr Itua Herbal Home. After the treatment, he asked me to meet his nurse for the HIV test when I did it.
